Meet Janelle Booth

Janelle Booth is a New Zealand-based paramedic and healthcare educator with extensive experience across clinical practice, operational leadership, and vocational education within the ambulance sector. Alongside frontline clinical work, Janelle has worked extensively in paramedic education and workforce development with Hato Hone St John, supporting learners from first responder through to paramedic level. She also develops and supports education for external emergency response and healthcare partners, including Fire and Emergency first responders and PRIME (Primary Response in Medical Emergencies) practitioners, comprising rural doctors and nurses responding to medical emergencies in the community.

Janelle holds qualifications in health science, adult education and health and medical education, with a strong interest in creating engaging, practical, and clinically relevant learning experiences for healthcare professionals. Janelle recently completed an 18-month secondment managing an ambulance education department, where she led educational delivery, stakeholder engagement, and programme development initiatives. Her experience includes designing and reviewing clinical education resources, facilitating simulation and scenario-based learning, and supporting operational staff through complex training environments.

She is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Paramedicine, with a focus on extended care paramedicine. Internationally, this role is often referred to as community paramedicine, reflecting a growing emphasis on delivering advanced assessment, treatment, and ongoing care in out-of-hospital and community-based settings. Janelle has a keen interest in community-based care, patient experience, culturally responsive practice, and exploring the evolving role of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare education. Janelle is passionate about developing education that bridges theory and real-world practice, helping clinicians build confidence, critical thinking, and compassionate, patient-centred care.
